Back to Normal?

“That 1000 years was hell for both of us,” Celestia growled.
“But it’s finally over.  We can move on now,” Luna said comfortingly, hugging her sister.
Both sisters perked up at the same time.  “We’re back to normal!” Celestia exclaimed.
“Normal?” Discord’s disembodied voice rang out.  “Dear, sweet Celestia!  You two just shared each other’s lives.  For that one brief moment, you were one and the same.  Can anything ever be normal between you two again?”
“It’s a moment I think we’ll both always treasure,” Celestia conceded.
“But whatever your reasons for doing it in the first place, it’s over now,” Luna said.
“Over?” Discord said, appearing in front of them with a toothy grin.  “Oh it’s never over, Luna.  Any time you both wish, Moonlight Sunrise is there waiting to exist again.  You can jump between being Moonlight Sunrise or your own separate selves as often as you wish.  Who knows?  Could be interesting where it takes you.”

A few hours later, Moonlight Sunrise walked out of the Everfree Palace.  Discord appeared on one of the palaces towers, grinning down at the alicorn.  “Oh, yes!  Do get comfortable with that form.  And the more you use it, the less you’ll want to ever be yourselves again!”
“You know ponies aren’t built to handle that,” the purple colored princess said from behind.
Discord couldn’t hold back the gasp as he turned around.  “Not too many ponies can sneak up on me like that, Twilight!”
“You’re forcing two lifetimes of memories into a single being,” Twilight sneered.  “Ponies aren’t meant to handle that kind of stress.”
“I think you underestimate your mentor, Twilight.  They aren’t normal ponies.  They’re alicorns, the most powerful alicorns to ever exist no less!
“And look how happy they are!  Soon they won’t be able to tell where Celestia ends and Luna begins.  Soon they won’t be able to separate even if they wanted to.”
“Why, Discord?  I thought you were reformed!”
“Oh I am, Twilight!  And I also know what’s coming.  In sheer power, Moonlight Sunrise is more powerful than the sum of her parts.  She doesn’t know it yet, but she could utterly destroy me if she wanted.  And she’s going to need that power.”

At the edges of Equestria’s borders stood a red skinned minotaur armored in black.  A small brown leather bag hung from a silver chain around his neck.  Dragon like creatures formed an army behind him.  A gargoyle walked up and bowed to the minotaur.
“Report, Scorpan,” the minotaur ordered, his deep bass voice rumbling through the stillness of night.
“The stratodons are ready for war, lord Tirek.”
Tirek nodded gravely, giving the signal.  The army of stratodons took off, covering the daytime sky in blackness.
